Intergenerational Worship: The Work of ALL People

What if it is possible to include, involve and engage all generations, both in worship and in worship leadership? What if worship leadership could be reframed as a generous out-pouring of God’s generosity toward us? And what if it is not as hard as it sounds?
This workshop will model paperless, screenless participatory approaches to leading singing, scripture proclamation and prayer in a space intended to be hospitable to a variety of backgrounds, ages and skill levels. The session will also use an experience/reflection model of learning, opening the door to collaborative discovery and sharing that helps strengthen communal connections. Co-presented by Rev. Breen Marie Sipes and Conie Borchardt, Executive Director of Music that Makes Community.

If you plan to use copyrighted musical material in worship, even paperlessly, make sure you abide by copyright law. Most pieces from hymnals and supplemental worship books are covered by Onelicense. Report your use of the piece (even if words or music are not printed) to make sure royalties are paid.
For new music or tunes shared by individuals within the MMC community, seek permission to use a song whenever possible and share the name of the composer. Purchase songs from composers’ websites (if they have one), send the song creator a “tip” through Paypal/Venmo, or email them to ask how you can honor their creative efforts. This is one way we help support a sustainable ecosystem of song sharing.
